Girls aged from 12 to 15 are being encouraged to give softball cricket a go in the club's latest bid to open up access to the sport!
Friday night junior training here at Budleigh will now feature a coaching group exclusively for girls aged 12 + thanks to an initiative by parents Alice Sowman and Laura and Andrew Chatterton. Team manager Alice said: “With the fantastic new facilities at The Holt, it felt like the right time to start a girls under-15 softball cricket team for ages 12 and up. We want girls to feel part of the club and know there's a place for them here, especially if they're new to the game. We already have a lovely mix of ages, and the team is open to everyone — whether they’ve played a lot, a little, or never before.
“For some, playing in an all-girls team can feel more relaxed and supportive, which is really important. Most of all, it’s about having fun, feeling welcome, and helping grow the next generation of female cricketers."
Any girls interested in giving cricket a go should come along to The Holt at 6pm on Good Friday for a ‘Meet the coaches’ session, coaching will be begin with a free trial session the following week – Friday April 25th.
