BSCC supporters have gone above and beyond in the Crowdfunder challenge to secure £6750 from Sport England enabling us to secure more than £17k for our bid to improve access to the club.
Thanks to the local businesses and individuals who donated products and services and to the vast number of supporters who bought them or made monetary pledges, we shot past the £6750 target needed to secure match funding and raised more than £10,000.
The money will be used to create a safe, level area around the clubhouse to replace the existing uneven, loose gravel surface. This will make the area accessible for those with mobility issues and will create a more welcoming environment for all!
And supporters have been as generous with their praise for the project as with their cash – with many comments of encouragement and support posted on the Crowdfunder website.
Comments include...
‘The new cricket club has quickly become a welcoming, sociable space for the wider Budleigh community. I am happy to support this latest enhancement to the club’
‘Great job BSCC! Thank you for all your hard work and tireless dedication and effort. You’ve created a wonderful community space and I’m proud to be a member!’
‘What a fantastic asset the Cricket Club is for the local community!’
‘Lovely to be able to help contribute to this fabulous community resource’
The Crowdfunder bid was masterminded by BSCC Fundraising co-ordinator Carolyn Roper who said: “I never fail to be amazed by the level of support the community gives to the club’s fundraising efforts, and this crowdfunding campaign has been no exception. In fact, this project seems to have struck a chord more than any other. Improving access at the club is clearly important for so many within our community. The patio will not only enable us to provide a far more welcoming environment for those who struggle with mobility, but it will allow us to provide additional cricketing opportunities to many who have never been able to access cricket before. This has always been at the heart of our vision, thanks to all those who donated so generously.
