GRUBBY car an embarrassment? Let our senior players take the strain! In our latest fundraiser for new training nets, our players are giving drivers the chance to park up and enjoy a hot drink and cake while they wash their car.
The car wash is being run at The Holt from 9am to 12 noon on Saturday morning (March 23) Players will charge £5 (cash or card) to clean cars and £10 for vans - for £5 extra drivers can get tea or coffee and cake made and served by volunteers in the clubhouse.
As well to generate much needed funds, the car wash is also part of the English Cricket Board’s Get Set weekend organised to get communities to come along to their local clubs as members and volunteers ‘get set’ for the upcoming season.
As part of the Get Set weekend, on Sunday afternoon (March 24) , from 2pm to 4pm, we are calling for volunteers to help tidy up the ground and carry out maintenance jobs in preparation for the start of the cricket season. Andy’s Bar will be open for refreshments and anyone interested in getting involved in the club is welcome to come up, meet the members and find out more – spread the word!
Player James England said : “We are trying out all kinds of fundraising ideas to get the money for the new nets, which unfortunately will cost around £40k. We hope to welcome lots of drivers (and their passengers and families) to the club on Saturday morning – a chance for them to relax while we take the strain of getting their cars clean and shiny.”
