BSCC takes part in memorial for late Lord Clinton

Club members among 1,000 attendees at service

Representatives from BSCC were among those to gather and celebrate the life of the late Lord Clinton, one of Devon’s most important landowners and our former honorary president, at Exeter Cathedral last week.
The moving and uplifting memorial service was attended by around 1,000 people.
A total of 24 organisations, of which Lord Clinton was patron, processed through the nave of the cathedral during the opening hymn, reflecting his interests and the causes he supported.
The Club’s move to The Holt was facilitated by Lord Clinton when he oversaw one of the biggest conservation projects in the UK working with the Environment Agency, to restore the estuary of the River Otter to its former floodplain. This project involved the relocation of BSCC to a new site on higher ground, also owned by the estate, ending years of flooding misery for players and members.
