We are delighted to announce Ed Doble as our new 1st XI captain, Harvey Shipton as the captain of 2nd XI and that James England (Jimmer!) will remain at the helm of our 3rd XI.
The appointments for the 2025 season, which will be ratified at the AGM in March, mark an exciting new chapter for the club and also a time to reflect with gratitude on the huge contribution of their predecessors – particularly Lloyd Murrin who has captained the 1st XI for five years, an especially challenging period with the club’s move from Ottermouth.
Secretary Bill Roper thanked the outgoing captains saying: “Lloyd Murrin, Joe Marley and Dan Messom hand the batons off to the next generation with BSCC shaping up for a brilliant resurgence. A massive thanks to them for their hard work during this insane period of change - their contribution has been invaluable”.
Club chairman Joel Murphy said: “We are confident all 3 will guide their teams with passion and dedication on and off the field . We look forward to seeing their leadership in action and are excited about the direction they will take the teams. The club offers its full support as they take on these new responsibilities.”
Unsurprisingly the new captains share similar aims! Ed Doble said: “I’m really looking forward to getting started, the aim for this year is to get promoted and continue to bring the youngsters through the teams.”
Harvey commented: “I’m really looking forward to my first year as captain hoping to be contending for promotion after last season’s relegation and looking to keep and bring youth into the side”
There is continuity for the 3rds who are lucky enough to have squadron leader Jimmer at the helm again. He said: “I’m looking forward to the 2025 season after a successful 24 season, looking to keep the same success on the pitch and keep the youth side that we've been accustomed to.”
